Cancer - How devastating

I was traumatized when the doctor said:

"YOU HAVE CANCER."

BREAST CANCER!

Once I 'got' it, I began to chart my schedule.

I was disappointed by the many errors the medical team made before the surgery, but my niece works at the hospital in a BIG POSITION and insisted that she would oversee everything.

With that comfort, I decided to not postpone my trip to Japan and have the surgery upon my return.  It was worth waiting.

The surgery was on Friday, October 17.

Ten days have passed since I had the surgery.

It was harder than I thought. But I had support of my sorority sisters, my bonus daughter, Camille; friends and family -- especially my sister.  Sylvia (sister) was there when I came out of anesthesia. Sister gifted me by renting her "usual" condo and snuggling me in the main bedroom. This overlooked Lake Michigan, sunrise in the morning and views of Downtown and its frenzy.

All that was therapeutic but contributing to my journey to wellness.

So, now I'm home and sis is gone. But friends and neighbors are stepping up and helping.

I am grateful who have been there for me.
